On May 28, Memorial Day, CrossFit Gyms all over the US, and I’m sure probably the world, do the hero workout “Murph”. You’ve probably heard people talking about it at the gym already. Hero workouts honor many fallen soldiers and service members. Just look up hero wods and you can read the bios of all the people with a wod dedicated to them. “Murph” is a cool tradition and HCF has been participating since we opened. Typical wods are beneficial and truly improve your fitness. Hero wods really are just about doing something especially hard. Sure the task is hard, but some people also take on the emotional drive of thinking about that soldier!

On Memorial Day we’ll offer blocks of time when you can come do “Murph”. Blocks of time because it might take you north of an hour to finish! (There will be a couple scaled option just so you know)

7:00am-10:00am

3:00pm-6:00pm

Yes they’re 3 hour blocks, but remember, you should warm-up and the working time is about an hour. So if you were to show up to the gym after say 9:00am, it’s not likely you’ll finish everything before 10am.

BBQ at 6:00! We’ll have a food sign up at the gym next week!

We are also an official Murph Challenge location. If you want to get a rad t-shirt, give to a great cause, and post your score to see how you match up like you did in the Open, go to www.themurphchallenge.com

You certainly don’t need to register to paticipate. If you have a friend or family member who wants to do Murph, it’ll just be the $15 drop in fee. Also, Mac and I will make the final decision as to whether or not someone can visit for Murph. You might think it would be funny to give someone Rhabdo, but we’d prefer to not be the ones who do it!
